What it does

Antica makes the rosso side richer and darker. It brings weight, depth, and a plush sweetness that suits Plymouth, bourbon, and Smith & Cross better than a leaner vermouth would. The trade-off is heaviness. If the base spirit is soft or the drink is under-diluted, Antica can pull the bitter edge too far back.
